In 1982 Joyce Wilson, Dora & Lou Wooldridge, together with a few friends formed a new pantomime group which they called Sunshine Pantomimes and after several years of sucessful pantomimes they eventually changed it's name to Rainbow on 9th April 1992. Dora and Lou took over the running of the new group whilst Joyce went on to direct many, many of their pantomimes and remained as President until 2020 when she sadly passed away.
We have covered everything from Goldilocks and the Three Bears, to Jack and the Beanstalk and Peter Pan.
In 2018 we unfortunately lost Dora who to the very end was the beating heart of Rainbow Pantomimes. This meant that for our 2019 production of Peter Pan we needed to employ a complete new production team to enable us to continue to perform our pantomimes.
We produce one pantomime a year at the Dormston Mill Theatre Sedgley and rehearsals start at the beginning of September running through till January.
As a group we like to arrange social and fund raising events through out the year and we have supported many children`s charities in our history. Our aim is to encourage adults and young people alike to perform on stage or learn all aspects of stage work.
Membership is open from the age of 10 and is by audition. If you fancy joining Rainbow or would like any further information please contact us.
